Mommy & Baby Session at East Fork Lake in Batavia, Ohio

This session is a prime example of how things did not go according to plan, but when embraced anyways, magic truly can happen.

I legit have never had this happen before in all my years doing this. But when Laural arrived at the beach parking lot in East Fork Lake for our session, she actually got pulled over and ticketed for speeding! It ended up delaying our shoot time by nearly 40 mins and just added extra elements of crazy as you can imagine lol

But when we finally we able to meet up, I gave her some time to talk through some if it and did not rush into the start of the session. Because seriously, who knew any of this was going to happen!? I actually really felt for her and still was so eager to photograph her and her baby together despite it all.

So after a few minutes of talking and settling in, we hiked back to our starting spot and Laurel just took a few deep breaths and really relaxed with her baby. I honestly can’t even begin to say how proud of her I am for going into all of this and still letting herself have a simple, good time with her baby.

Ironically, despite all the chaos of getting this session started, these might be some of the most magical mommy/baby photos I’ve ever taken. And they’re the kind of photos I wish I could give every mom with her baby just walking through a beautiful place, enjoying the scenery, and taking in the little things in all that beautiful togetherness that is so quick to pass.

But also, let this be a reminder that even when things don’t go as planned, they can still be SO beautiful. And sometimes in ways they couldn’t have been before <3
